There are some amazing colorwork patterns to be found in vintage books and pamphlets. With fall leaves inspiring me, I combined a glorious colorwork leaf with a reversible cowl shape, and the Lorraine Cowl was born.

I hope you’ll enjoy the colorwork-in-the-round aspect of this cowl. If you really hate to Kitchener stitch, you may use a long-tail cast-on and sew the edges together or use a three needle bind-off to close the edges. You may also close the edge by using just 1 color to Kitchener stitch the cowl closed. These alternate closings will show the point at which you began and ended. It’s your choice in how you want the cowl to look.

This pattern is meant for an intermediate to advanced knitter and all those in-between.

Both written and charted directions are included in this pattern. Please read the entire pattern before beginning.
